The Pengrowth Nova Scotia Energy Scholarship Program encourages students graduating from Nova Scotia high schools to pursue a career in the energy sector. The sector is and will continue to be a rich source of career opportunities. Students enrolling in business, engineering, science, environmental and energy related programs through university or community college will be able to develop the knowledge and skills needed to work in the energy field.
Scholarships are offered to students entering university or community college after completing Grade 12 at any Nova Scotia high school. Up to 12 scholarships, valued at $10,000 each, are awarded annually to students pursuing energy-related studies at a university.
Two university scholarships are designated each year for a member of a First Nation or a visible minority.
The program also offers up to ten non-renewable $2,500 scholarships for first-year students pursuing energy-related trades and technology programs at the Nova Scotia Community College.
New this year, two of the trade scholarships will be designated for Aboriginal students who demonstrate reward requirements.
The program also includes research grants for students pursuing studies at the master's degree level. As many as four grants, worth up to $15,000 each, are awarded every year to graduate students conducting eligible research.
